Why is my henna cone not working?
This is generally because the skin was not clean when the henna was applied. Lotions, sweat, hair products, and anything else on the skin will be a barrier between the skin cells and henna causing a lighter henna stain. Make sure the skin is completely clean before applying henna.
How long does the cone henna need to sit?
A minimum of 6-8 hours is recommended. Traditionally henna is left on overnight and you will get a darker, longer lasting stain if you leave it on for 12-16 hours (especially on difficult to stain parts like the upper body). You can also wrap your mehndi in tissue if you don’t have Mefix tape.
Why is my henna cone watery?
Well-mixed henna paste should have a consistency a little thicker than toothpaste. If your henna paste is too watery or runny, adjust the mixture at once. This breaks up any clumps of dry paste, helping to thicken the henna. Measure out 1 level teaspoon of henna powder and add it to the henna paste.
What happens if you leave henna on too long on skin?
Many women use henna dye like this, overnight. The color will be bolder, and likely much darker than if you washed it out after a short time. However, if the henna dries, it will stop adding color to your hair.

Let the mixture sit for 2 days. After that mix the extra water in the Henna paste to make it slightly watery ( thinner then the toothpaste). Wear disposable gloves and a garment that you can afford to discard ( or use for Henna only).

After application you want it to dry enough so that design stays in the place and it gets henna juice in your body. If it dries completely, henna paste starts flaking off. Once it is off the skin, you wouldn’t get any more color out of it.
